Brisbane – Otherwise known as the spontaneous city I flew to in Australia in the first couple of months in my travels… when I didn’t have a clue where to go and what to do! Turned out, it wasn’t such a nice experience here, because I ended up being homesick for the entire week of visiting the city!! Not a nice feeling at all! :(.
7/11 – “Today’s the day we leave Melbourne 😦 sad times! Our flight wasn’t until later on this evening, so we checked out just before 1oam and managed to sneak our bags downstairs into the kitchen/living area, where we spent most of our day. That way we didn’t have to lug them around with us all day long!
Time flew by and it was now time to get to the airport! It was actually really sad to say bye to St Kilda. I really love this place. Of course, typically it was scorching hot outside and the weather for the next few days was also way up in the 30’s! Grrr! Here’s hoping Brisbane can show us some decent weather too!
We got to the airport with plenty of time to spare, and after seeing a really beautiful sunset over the runway, we jumped on the place and jetted off :). Considering it was only a 2 hour flight, we had a huge batch of turbulence at one point, and we didn’t sleep as it was such an uncomfortable flight! Not happy!! I’m still trying to get my head round the fact that it took 2 hours by plane to get here, it doesn’t look like far at all!!
We grabbed a taxi outside the airport and arrived in the hostel, but I cant say the hostel was much to go by really. We were greeted by the receptionist… who acted very drunk! We had to leave our passports with him at reception, didn’t feel safe doing that! When we got to our room, we all felt like we were back at Coffee Palace (a really disgusting hostel back in Melbourne!), but marginally better! At least we could see more of the carpet this time!
As we were so shattered from the long day, we all migrated to our beds and got ourselves some decent kip!”
