Alice Springs – Otherwise known as the capital of the Northern Territory!! If you ever plan to become a local here, you must be able to witness the Todd River (which runs right through the town) flowing three times in your life… apparently the river only runs every 20 odd years or so!! When I visited, it was – as ever – bone dry!!
2/12 – “Got up before 10am so I could have the free breakfast – although it was only free cereal… better than nothing!!
For tonight, me and Linda decided to make mum’s curry seeing as it was Lesley’s birthday tomorrow (37 – can’t believe it!!). However later tonight, we realized that our bus back to Adelaide wasn’t until Friday morning… not tomorrow… so we would actually be here for Lesley’s birthday – duh!!
So anyways, me and Linda headed into town and bought the ingredients, as well as cake mix to make Lesley a birthday cake!
All day, my guts had been playing up – boo :(. I figured it was the heat, but it was really frustrating having to fear actually going to the loo – yuck!!!
Tonight, Linda got the cake on the go, and did a grand job too! We decorated it with choc icing and marshmallows spelling out her name (at first we spelt it wrong, but we soon changed it!!).
We all helped in making the curry. He girls were getting really excited about it!!
We finally got it all dished up and sat out in the garden for our meal. The girls loved the curry!! So much so, Lesley demanded the recipe as soon as we finished the meal!!
We then surprised Lesley with the cake and it’s candles and sang happy birthday. Even though it’s not till tomorrow!! There was still some left over cake, so we chose to keep it for tomorrow night’s meal!
Even though the curry was amazing, my tummy was still not up to scratch, so I ended up going to bed early :(.”
